Mexico to shut government in flu fight

Passengers wearing face masks as a precaution against swine flu walk inside a metro station in Mexico City on Wednesday. A citywide shutdown has been declared in Mexico City because of the swine flu outbreak. Mexico's government is  suspending all nonessential activity of the federal government and private business as the number of confirmed swine flu cases jumped.

WHO notches up swine flu pandemic alert

A patient showing symptoms of swine flu is being admitted at a hospital in Mulhouse, Haut Rhin, France.The World Health Organization has raised its pandemic alert for swine flu to the second highest level, meaning that it believes a global outbreak of the disease is imminent.
